The main advantage of this reproduction method is the possibility of massive genetic improvement of large livestock populations, using semen from selected broodstock. The lower cost of semen makes the valuable genetic contribution of these animals available to most producers. There is rapid improvement in the economically important traits of calving ease, growth rate, maternal ability and quality of livestock.
